The Client: Leading UK Holiday Park Operator.
The Brief
Located in the heart of the Eden Valley in Cumbria is an award-winning five-star family holiday park. As part of a multi-million pound leisure and entertainment complex development, Topline Pools and Wellness were approached by the client to build an indoor & outdoor heated swimming pool, extending from the indoors to outdoors creating a seamless connection between interior and exterior spaces. The brief to create a standout facility that’s a real focal point for holiday makers and allows for year-round use.
The Challenge
Although not a unique problem, this heated pool build entailed an unusual and challenging design. To create a seemingly unbroken natural flow between the indoor and outdoor spaces, we would have to accommodate for the different shapes and levels of the indoor and outdoor swimming pools.
What We Did
Occupying a space that extends from indoors to a stunning outdoor terrace, the different shapes and levels of the indoor and outdoor swimming pools were resolved with a level-deck system in the internal swimming pool and a skimmer pool system in the outdoor swimming pool.
A continuous large-format tiled finish creates the seamless transition the client was after, unifying the two actually very different spaces (and shaped pools) while the large span of glass separating the two blurs the lines between indoor and outdoor space and gives the leisure complex the “wow” factor befitting its picturesque countryside surrounding.
The Results
On opening, the indoor & outdoor heated swimming pool received incredible reviews, making an already sought after location one of the best holiday destinations in the UK.
Topline Pools and Wellness were also awarded a Gold in the ‘Best Swimming Pool in a Hospitality Setting’ category and a Silver in the ‘Commercial Pool Project of the year’ category in the 2023 UK Pool & Spa Awards.
