Shaping Places for wellbeing

Creating Spaces that focus on the Wellness of People

We understand the need to step into a space that enables us to recharge physically and mentally at the end of the day.

We believe spas and wellness centres should be welcoming, relaxing, even personalised environments. The same goes for a SEN school or rehabilitation centre with specialist rooms, hydrotherapy pools etc where the design of the space should encourage wellness and support healing and recovery, but also promote a sense of safety and security. We work closely with homeowners, hotel owners, operators, architects, developers, contractors and interior designers to design, personalise and build high-quality, bespoke wellness rooms, contrast therapy rooms and a wide range of different thermal experiences that both complement the space and décor, exude comfort and style and promote wellbeing.

Hydro & Thermal Experiences

There are many different types of thermal rooms and bathing areas, each with their own specific benefits; from saunas and steam rooms to salt rooms, ice rooms, mud chambers and a myriad of others. But no matter what type you choose, they can all help to recharge, de-stress, and find balance, offering a refuge from the hustle and bustle of daily life and providing not only physical rejuvenation but mental restoration as well.

Types of Thermal Rooms and Thermal Experiences

WHAT IS A THERMAL ROOM?

A thermal room or thermal suite is a designated space or a collection of rooms that takes users through a series of heat and cooling treatments designed to offer individual and collective health benefits.

SAUNA

While the temperatures and humidity levels vary, sauna bathing is characterised by dry heat. Traditional saunas utilise wood, gas or electric stoves with heated rocks to produce the dry heat environment and a low level of humidity. Whereas, infrared saunas, a modern adaption of the sauna, use infrared light as the heating source. Find out more about the different types of Saunas and variety of design and installation options available.

STEAM ROOM

Unlike a sauna, a steam room relies on wet heat to warm the body. A steam generator creates the moisture-rich environment. While steam rooms are not heated to such high temperatures as saunas, they offer up to 100% humidity. Find out more about the different types of Steam Rooms and variety of design and installation options available.

TEPIDARIUM

A Tepidarium is a warm, dry thermal room where the walls, floor and seats are gently heated to warm the body before other treatments or to restore it to its normal temperature. The mild heat, usually set just a little above room temperature provides a comfortable, constant radiant heat. Contact us to find out more.

LACONIUM

A Laconium is a dry heat treatment room offering a gentler heat experience. A good alternative to the traditional sauna due to its milder temperatures of 50° to 60°C, the warmth is generated by heated tiled walls, loungers, benches and floors. allowing the body to warm up gently over a longer period. Contact us to find out more.

CALDARIUM

A Caldarium is a warm air bathing room where the walls, floors and benches are heated by floor heating (warm-air heating). A caldarium is often used in preparation for a hotter sauna experience. Contact us to find out more.

SALT ROOM

Salt rooms deliver a dry salt therapy experience. These can be ‘Active’ rooms where micro-particles of salt are dispersed into the room to be inhaled and absorbed into the skin – known as halotherapy – or “Passive” rooms which are filled with large amounts of salt to simulate the environment of a true salt cave with controlled airflow, humidity and temperature. Find out more about the different types of Salt Rooms and variety of design and installation options available.

RASUL (MUD) ROOM

The Rasul Mud Room is a spa treatment room or chamber where you can enjoy a traditional Arabian-inspired cleansing treatment that combines the health enhancing properties of heat, steam and mud. Find out more about our Rasul Rooms and the variety of design and installation options available.

HAMMAM

Traditionally, the hammam is divided into three rooms where temperatures increase gradually (but can take the form of one tiled steam room). The heat and steam in the hammam are designed to cleanse and exfoliate impurities from the body. Find out more about our Hammam Rooms and the variety of design and installation options available.

ICE ROOM

Ice rooms, also known as ice caves or ice grottos, provide a refreshing and invigorating thermal contrast to a sauna or steam room experience. chilly temperatures can be achieved through cooling technology, ice walls, “real” snow or even “snowfall” showers. Find out more about our Ice Rooms and variety of design and installation options available.

ICE STATION / ICE FOUNTAIN

Complimenting the ice-cold experience, an Ice Station or ice fountain dispenses cooling fine crushed ice flakes through an ice chute into a decorative bowl for an invigorating cool down body rub. It can be placed on a wall or ceiling within an existing ice room or installed either near heat-based facilities such as a sauna or steam room. Find out more about our Ice Stations and the variety of design and installation options available.

COLD PLUNGE POOL

A cold plunge pool is a type of pool designed for cold water therapy or cold water immersion. Not designed for swimming in, but rather for immersing the body under water usually after a hot session, a cold plunge pool can offer several health benefits. Find out more about our Plunge Pools and the variety of design and installation options available.

SHOWERS

From soft tropical rain to ice cold showers, these luxury showers feature different jets and temperatures to offer a variety of warming and cooling experiences.
