The annual Sports Stars Fishing Championship gets underway on Tuesday (30 July) bringing together stars from the world of sport to raise money for charity – and we can’t wait – what a line-up!
For the past seven years, Topline Pools and Wellness has been sponsoring this fantastic one-day event and as you can see from the picture there are some massive names involved – Luke Littler, Tony Bellew, Steve Davis, Terry Butcher, Kell Brook, David Seaman, Gail Emms – to name just a few!
Once again, the event will take place at the Tunnel Barn Farm Fishery in Warwickshire, and our director, Andy Bolton, will be taking to the helm seat as captain of Team Topline – a perfect excuse for him to indulge in his favourite sport, and more importantly, to raise money for a great cause.
The chosen charity is Willow – a national charity working with seriously ill young adults between the ages of 16-40 to provide unforgettable Special Days. These Special Days bring a little bit of normality with family and friends for those who are facing diagnosis, treatment and uncertainty. Founded by former Arsenal goalkeeper and TV presenter, Bob Wilson and his wife Megs, Willow is a lasting memorial to their daughter, Anna, who died of cancer aged 31. Anna’s love of life and the enriching experiences of her own Special Days were the charity’s inspiration. If you’d like to find out more or want to support Willow, visit: www.willowfoundation.org.uk.
Speaking ahead of the event, Andy Bolton said:
“Jess Harding and event organisers, JBD Sports Agents, put together such a brilliant event!
“Every year the line-up is stacked with big names; it’s amazing to see so many stars from sport and television get together to support the Willow Foundation while enjoying a great day’s fishing, and I’m super proud to be a part of it.
“It’s been a few years since Team Topline took the top spot though, so we need to bring that run to an end this time round!” he added.
The event is filmed to be shown on ITV4 later in the year, so you can watch how it all plays out and who wins the star-studded fish-off!
