The Brief
As part of a town centre regeneration scheme to meet the evolving needs and preferences of its residents and visitors, our client announced it would be building a multi-million-pound community complex housing an outstanding new flagship leisure centre and a library. The brief – to create a fantastic state-of-the-art facility that will regenerate the local area and public realm for the local community – with Topline Pools and Wellness supporting the construction of the leisure centre’s health suite.
What We Did
Our involvement in the construction of the leisure centre’s health suite was the build of a Finnish sauna, Himalayan salt sauna, aroma steam room, citrus steam room and heated loungers aligning with what residents and businesses hoped to see in the new leisure centre.
In approaching the designs, we also worked closely with our clients to help support their ambitions to maximise energy efficiency and lower operating costs. The sauna and steam rooms were built to a high commercial standard, capable of withstanding the high traffic and heavy usage expected in a leisure centre. Each facility, while providing a contemporary look, was designed to be maintainable moving forward, with the sleek modern Corian loungers also fully maintainable unlike tiled versions.
The Results
Opened in July 2022, the new state-of-the-art facility is one of the UK’s most energy-efficient leisure centres and is a real focus for the community with residents enjoying the benefits of the luxurious health suite. And our work was recognised with a gold standard award for ‘Health and Wellness Commercial Project of the Year’ in the 2022 UK Pool & Spa Awards.
