The Brief
One of the most viewed properties in the UK after going on the market in 2021, having been described as Preston’s ‘phenomenal’ mansion, the new owners approached Topline Pools and Wellness to extensively refurbish the indoor swimming pool and inbuilt spa pool and provide a luxurious and practical contemporary design as part of a wider property renovation project.
The Challenge
The brief was to modernise the pool complex, enhancing the aesthetic appeal and functionality of the pools and connecting them with the house renovation, but was based first and foremost on structural integrity.
The pool required an extensive renovation including stripping, re-rendering and tanking the pool and installing brand new pipework.
What We Did
Our work included replacing an existing out-dated shell and adding new pool side surround tiles, new ducting round the pool hall, replacement filters and pumps, new cover pit, automatic hidden pool cover and air handling system. The old fittings, skimmers, inlets, vacuum, main drains, and the pool lights, were all replaced.
The original pool had a surface mounted pool cover, but client requested a hidden automatic slatted safety pool cover. To do this, we shortened the pool slightly building a wall within the pool shell to create a new cover pit. We also had to remove the existing acrylic spa and open up the floor so we could install a new, larger tiled spa.
The Results
With its robust construction, carefully chosen superior finishes and high spec fittings, the indoor swimming pool and spa pool now exudes an understated elegance that both complements the residence and provides a focal point of family fun and relaxation.
Topline’s work was also recognised by the UK Pool & Spa Awards, winning the ‘Residential Indoor Pool Refurbishment’ and ‘Residential Indoor Pool under £175k’ awards.
