A splash of fun for all ages…
The Client: Holiday Park Operator.
The Brief
As part of a multi-million pound development brand new leisure venue at one of its many holiday parks across the UK, Topline Pools and Wellness was approached by the client to build an indoor overflow heated swimming pool, children’s pool and skimmer spa pool offering a refreshing escape for both adults and children alike.
The Challenge
Several challenges had to be tackled to deliver the project successfully during the design and build phases. The client was set on a level deck pool to present a more upmarket feel to the pool area. But during the design stage, it was identified that space for an external balance tank was limited. The site is also not connected to a mains drainage system and has an on-site water treatment system and that would have been contaminated with chlorinated water.
What We Did
To solve the problem of limited space for an external balance tank, we built the pool with a deep overflow channel which then in effect became the balance tank.
To overcome the potential for chlorine contamination, Topline designed in a sparging tank to temporally store the backwash water from both the swimming pool and spa.
The system controlled by a Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) that measured the volume of water in the sparging tank then pulsed air through the water to remove the chlorine.
This system was approved by both the specialist drainage company and all the appropriate agencies.
In addition, the flow rate of backwash water from the sparging tank had to be limited so that the water treatment system was not overwhelmed.
Topline’s in-house ability to design and manufacture custom control panels was the key to a successful solution for this technical problem.
The Results
The client was extremely pleased with the work carried out by Topline and the new pools have been a huge success with our client’s guests providing wonderful reviews of the facilities in the brand-new leisure centre.
