A first in the UK…
The Client: An independently owned hotel and spa located just north of the market town of Oswestry in Shropshire.
The Brief
As part of an ambitious development programme to extend its leisure club and spa suite with unique and exclusive spa facilities, and with a brief to give guests an extraordinary wellness experience and create the ultimate wow factor, Topline Pools and Wellness was approached by the client to create a Halotherapy room incorporating swinging heated loungers – a first in the UK spa and leisure industry.
The Challenge
To our knowledge, suspended and swinging heated loungers had never been done before. And the major challenge involved the design and installation of a structural gantry hidden within the walls and ceiling space to support the hanging and heated seating. But working with an interior fit-out contractor, we set out to make the idea a reality.
What We Did
With no design precedent, we had to push the envelope and try untested construction concepts to solve the problems associated with the design and the combined weight of the loungers and the users. Specially designed ropes and fixings were also manufactured to allow for the loungers to swing freely.
The Results
This was a truly bespoke project and a new concept in spa and wellness design. The hotel is the first setting in the UK to feature this innovation and the brief was truly met.
Since its opening in July 2022, the feedback has been fantastic with users of the Halotherapy room and its heated swinging loungers, blown away by the experience.
Our innovative work and commitment to delivering bespoke projects to the highest standards was recognised with the ‘Health & Wellness Commercial Project of the year’ award at the 2022 UK Pool & Spa Awards.
